Billy Squier - Signs Of Life

Sign of Life is Billy squier third Platinum album, and "Rock Me Tonite" was Squier's biggest pop hit single that reached #15 on Billboard's Chart and reached #1 on the Album Rock Tracks chart in the first month album released. It was an awesome job in the 1984 while he continuing his work with Brian May and make collaboration single with Freddie Mercury such as "Love Is The Hero"and "Lady With A Tenor Sax" in the end of 1986. In this album Billy squier try to put some dance element more than before. Rock me Tonite is typical 80's rock song with the tiny guitar sound, low drum beat and a little synthesizer, it's remind me of Duran Duran and David Bowie. Eventhough his video music became "The Worst" it's continued climb the chart. Billy didn't stop working and released the next album "Hear and Now" in 1989.

Billy Squier - Emotion in Motion

Emotions in Motion is Billy squier Platinum Album. Many singles like "She's a Runner" and "Everybody Wants You" break the Billboard Rock Charts. The way he mix between pop and rock n' roll make the large audience from this two genre to give an attention. From the unsuccessful band member "Piper"in the 70's found by "Bruce Kulick" of Kiss and Grand Funk Railroad, and then goes in same management with Kiss Billy squier decide to make a successful solo career in middle 80's.
His video music mostly found in the early MTV, but unfortunately his music video "Rock me Tonite" frequently appears on "worst music video ever" lists. But VH1 give him a gratitude by introduced Squier as "one of the great singer/songwriters in the history of rock."

Billy Squier - Hear & Now

This is my first Billy Squier album my first rock n' roll when I was in junior high. It's pretty cruel story when I got this rock n' roll album, I just borrowed from my friend's uncle and I didn't return it. Then I lost it just in a three month and I think it was a destiny LOL ... You just can't keep something for a long time that it's not really belong to you.
The memories come again when I saw Billy Squier album in used cassette store in Yogyakarta when I was in college, what a coincidence just bought it without think just want to bring it home soon.
I really miss Billy, the way he sing, the sound of his Fender axe raw but it's cool, the riff that mixture between pop and rock n' roll. And of course "Stronger" is my favorite single. "Rock/Punch" really encourage song that I'd usually played very loud in the morning, make this song as your anthem to face your every new day and all the hard day you've been trough. Hear and Now also give you a ballad single with a pop melody such as "Love" and "Mine Tonite".
First album you got from an artist is usually become the most favorite album, just like my Hear n' Now album, that show me what good about rock n' roll is, that is my first rock n' roll album.

Many point to Billy Squier as early-'80s rock personified, an era when he and many of his peers tempered hard rock with pop melodicism, and by adding just the right amount of posing and posturing for the newly constructed MTV set, he scored a string of arena rock anthems and power ballads. Many single of Billy Squier playing around in MTV and Billboard chart. Billy Squier first platinum album is "Don't Say No" it was produced by Queen guitarist Brian May,. The next platinum album is "Emotion in Motion" released in 82 became as successful as Don't Say No. The next Album "Sign of Life" (1984) is the third Billy Squier Platinum album, bThe album also climbed into Billboard's Top 5 and sold just under 3 million copies. Two years passed between Emotions in Motion and Squier's next album Signs of Life. It was his third consecutive Platinum album.

This is the third Slash's band after the most successful rock n' roll band Gun's N Roses. The first project is "Slash's Snake Pit" was release two album "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" and "Ain't Life Grand". The second Slash's project is "Velvet Revolver" also release two album "Contraband" and "Libertad". If I can compare the formation of Slash's Snakepit, I rather choose formation from first album. Rod Jackson doing well in the second album but the band didn't have any clue with his kind of vocal. Replace Matt Sorum with Matt Laug and now you got a very loud and very intimidate rock n' roll band since Motley Crue haha....
I really enjoyed "Fishy Dance" that Scott Weiland did in "Come on Come in" OST Fantastic Four, I think that was the coolest movement in a rock n' roll music video, sad story he decide to reunite whit his former band Stone Temple Pilot.
Here come the third band, Slash's trying to play blues. But I think it wasn't blues.....

Hubert Sumlin : I Know You

Hubert Sumlin was the first Chicago bluesman that I ever had the chance to sit down with and talk to about the blues. He was a gracious and cordial as anyone I have ever met and he made me feel like we had been friends for years, eventhough we had just met. His stories about Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters fascinated me, as did just about everything else he chose to discuss that day. I have seen him several times since that first meeting and have continued to enjoy his stories and his music.bluestown
